Welcome to my gratuitous home page at the University of Oslo.
I'm an graduate at the Faculty of mathematics and natural sciences (www.mn.uio.no) at the University of Oslo (www.uio.no).
Between 2006-2015 I worked for Domeneshop (www.domeneshop.no) and since 2015 I have been running my own Free Software company Aamot Software (www.aamot.software) that is focused on implementing Free Software in C and Java for radio, music and archiving for Debian GNU/Linux (www.debian.org), Fedora Core Linux (www.fedoraproject.org) and Ubuntu Linux (www.ubuntu.com).
I maintain 3 free/open-source software projects: Gingerblue Music Studio (www.gingerblue.org), GNOME Radio (www.gnomeradio.org) and GNOME Internet Radio Locator (girl.software), and have worked on the archiving project Nikita Noark5 Core (nikita.oslomet.no) with Thomas Sødring, Associate Professor at Oslo Metropolitan University (www.oslomet.no) since 2016.

Aamot, Ole Kristian: Public Network Radio Software for Accessing Free World Broadcasts on Internet (Master, 2020)
The thesis is a defense of free radio during two world wars and
supports the case through free GTK+/GNOME software Ole Kristian
Aamot wrote at Norwegian Computing Center in 2002, initiated from the
large work done in OpenStreetMap, GStreamer and libchamplain as well as
Ole Kristian Aamot`s own programming work at Oslo Metropolitan
University between 2017-2020 after invited visits to M.I.T. by Justin Dove, Google by Peter Norvig and UC Berkeley by Greg Thomas in 2014 and 2015.
Dalip Dewan found a research project in 2002 at the Norwegian Computing Center (NR) that I had the earliest chance to perform in 2014 and complete on June 30, 2020 (since the existence of the GNOME map libraries were not there until 2014) with censorship June 30 - July 15, 2020 in the streaming project Radio Streams with Bror Gundersen and Knut Holmqvist at IMEDIA at NR and Torkild Jemterud in Radio NOVA.
The project was also of such a nature that the international community may be interested in solving the problems posed.
The main question I got in 2002 was:
Where do the radio broadcasts come from?
There was not good enough to physically finger point at the computers converting radio audio from FM 99.3 MHz to the Internet.
I solved this problem by programming a graphical client in C with GTK+/GNOME/GStreamer/libchamplain libraries to choose and listen to radio broadcasts from Radio NOVA, radiOrakel and Radio Tellus that Bror Gundersen and Knut Holmqvist set up streaming server for on the Internet in 2001 from FM 99.3 Mhz.
In 2017, I further implemented the map support based on Open Street Map.
You can find a summary of my answer and work on the GNOME Internet Radio Locator with the binary project delivery http://heim.ifi.uio.no/~olekaa/AAMOT-2020.zip and in the report, scientific article and written essay "Democratic voices on public radio in Norway as Free Software (gnomeradio.org)" published on the University of Oslo web server.
